Dr. Matthew and Melodee Smith
Pastor Matt has been a pastor of multi-ethnic and multi-generational churches in urban, suburban and rural communities from Miami to Los Angeles. He is also a podcaster and author of five books – In His Image, a daily devotional on the purpose of mission, In His Presence, a daily devotional on worship, and Growing Missional Leaders – Biblical Strategies to Win Your World to Christ, a small group curriculum to help people and churches reach their world for Christ, The Word in Worship Daily Devotional Journal, a daily journal for recording insights and prayer requests during devotions and The Personal Prayer Journal, a daily journal for recording prayer requests during devotions.
He has been senior pastor for churches in Iowa, Florida and California in rural, suburban and urban centers over the past 32 years. His wife, Melodee Joy, is author of Hope Enabler, the real life story of one Christian parent’s struggle with a runaway child and the hope that God enabled her to have during the darkest moments of that struggle and Hope for Hamlet, a children’s adaptation of the Prodigal Son story.
God has allowed them to expand His Kingdom and reach out with mission teams throughout the United States, Mexico and France. He is currently on the faculty at Bible Believer’s Christian College and Seminary in Hawthorne, California and an online adjunct professor for Colorado Christian University and California Pacific School of Theology. He has also served on the faculty of California Baptist University in the School of Christian Ministries.
Pastor Matt has earned his Pastoral Training, Greek Language diploma from Moody Bible Institute, a Bachelors of Arts degree in History from Trinity College in Deerfield, IL, a Masters of Arts in Ministry from Moody Gradate School in Chicago and a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Theology from California Center for Theological Studies in Maywood, California.
As a pastor, university professor, leadership consultant, and author, he has been dedicated for over three decades to proclaiming the gospel and Encouraging Achievement in Godly Leaders by Emphasizing Servanthood (EAGLES). Melodee has earned her World Missions diploma from Moody Bible Institute and studied child development at Cal State, San Bernardino. She has been in Bolivia as a short-term missionary and Mexico on repeated mission trips. She home-schooled their two grown daughters, Tabitha (31), and Hannah (26), from Kindergarten through High School.
She loves writing, teaching, crafts, baking, graphic arts, as well as serving with and for her husband.
