“What Is the Church?” August Message Series
“What is the Church?” is a “Love One Another” Message Series studying a simple truth:
The Church is “Disciples of Jesus Christ devoted to God’s heart and will focused on accomplishing His mission before He takes us to Heaven.” In each of the four talks we will focus on one aspect of this truth …
August 5: Disciples of Jesus Christ
The Church of Jesus Christ is filled with men and women who have left all to follow Jesus. These people are called disciples: disciplined followers of Jesus Christ who “obey everything Jesus has commanded them.” Their passion in Christ; their purpose is to glorify Him through obedience; their plan is reproducing Christ in the lives of others; their pain is their strength; their praise is in eternity, “Well done!”
August 12: Devoted to God’s Heart and Will
The Focus of the Church is the exaltation of Jesus Christ as King of all – our purpose, our meaning, our agenda, our income, our expenses, our treasure, our time, our talents, our lives. As such, the disciples of Jesus are dedicated to intimacy with Him, constantly seeking His direction and His will in each and every decision. Such focus is called worship - acknowledging that God Only through Jesus Christ is worthy of our lives (worship).
August 19: Focused on Accomplishing His Mission
The Mission of God has a Church to accomplish that call. Since the Garden Fall, God has been crying out, “Where are you?” It is the mission of each of the disciples of Jesus Christ to plead with men and women to be reconciled to God. You will know if you are a disciple of Jesus Christ – you are “on mission” for God by making disciples!
August 26: Before He Takes Us to Heaven
The Church of Jesus understands these are our “last days.” The Imminent Return of Jesus will happen in our life time – either by His coming for His Bride, the Church, or by His coming for us in death. Either way, our reunion with Jesus is imminent – and thus we are motivated to do all we can to make disciples before He calls us to our home in Heaven.
